If Now Is All We Have: A Dream That Called Me Back to What Matters Most
Share
I had a dream last night that has stayed with me in a way I can’t explain. In the dream, it was my daughter speaking to me. But the tone of her voice felt heavy—like a quiet goodbye was hanging in the air. She looked at me and said:
“If now is all we have…”
But it wasn’t just the words. It was the feeling behind them.
There was a weight in her voice. A stillness in the moment. It was as if she was leaving—like the dream was preparing me for some kind of loss.
I think what I heard in those words was more than loss—it was longing.
Her spirit was saying:
“See me now. Appreciate me now. Don’t wait until it’s too late to be present with me.”
That feeling stayed with me even after I woke up. And maybe God was speaking to me, too. Because that simple sentence has echoed in my spirit ever since:
“If now is all we have…”
It’s a truth we don’t like to face. But it’s real.
Life moves fast. People drift. Opportunities slip away. And love often goes unspoken until the silence is too loud to bear.
This is a reminder of how easy it is to take each other for granted. To get so caught up in “later” that we get too busy and forget to live with our hearts open now.
This dream reminded me that I don’t want to live like that.
The truth is, we hesitate too much. We wait to say what matters. We push off hugs, kind words, and gentle moments. We think we’ll always have more time—but sometimes we don’t.
I want to be fully here—with the people I love, with the time I’ve been given, with the faith I hold close.
That dream opened my eyes. It made me ask:
What if now really is all we have?
What would I do differently?
Would I hug longer? Speak softer?
Would I pause more often and pay closer attention to the people I love?
I think the answer is yes. And maybe this message is for more than just me. Maybe it’s for you, too.
If now is all we have…
Let’s forgive faster.
Let’s hold each other closer.
Let’s make the phone call.
Let’s take the photo.
Let’s stop waiting for life to slow down—and choose to slow down ourselves.
Let’s stop looking past our children, our parents, our partners—and really see them while they’re here.
The dream was painful, but it was also a gift. It was a holy reminder not to miss what’s right in front of me.
Our homes, our relationships, our faith—they all grow stronger when we honor the present moment.
That’s the heart behind Faithfully Home—to create and share pieces that help us remember what matters most. Whether it’s a soft woven blanket, a canvas with a quiet truth, or a metal sign with words that ground you, it’s all meant to speak peace into your space and spirit.
May this dream become a reminder—not of fear, but of focus.
A call to love your people now—not later. Not when it’s easier. Not when it’s quieter. Now.
May you carry that stillness with you.
The grace of now is always enough.
I created the “Now Is All We Have” canvas as a way to hold onto what matters most—
not just wall art, but a sacred reminder that the present moment is holy ground.
May it gently remind you to pause, breathe, and rest in the presence of God.
With all my heart,
